DUSTDEVILS SPLIT WITH AGGIES



Beltran hit a sole homerun in game one and two.

The Dustdevils jumped out early in the second inning with a sole homerun by Victoria Beltran. The Aggies hit a single at the top of the seventh inning bring in a tying run (1-1). The Dustdevils countered at the bottom of the seventh inning with a double hit into right field from Beltran.

Valerie Villarreal came in to pinch run for Beltran and advanced to third base on a passed ball. Villarreal was then able to use her speed to get to home plate for the winning run on a fielder's choice play by the Aggies.

Victoria Beltran (5-4) took the win for the Dustdevils. She pitched 7.0 innings, allowing three hits with one earned run and five strikeouts.

In game two, the Aggies led the Dustdevils 2-1 in the first inning. Victoria Beltran hit a single to left field allowing Allison Stein score the run from second base at the bottom of the first inning. Ultimately, Panhandle State scored on eleven hits give them a total of six runs for the game. The Dustdevils would cut it close with three runs at the bottom of the sixth inning and another sole homerun from Beltran in the seventh inning.

Courtney Smith pitched 4.0 innings allowing six hits with two earned runs. TAMIU and Panhandle State will conclude the four-game series with a doubleheader tomorrow at Gateway Softball Field at 11:00 a.m.
