TAMIU broke open the opening game with two runs in the fourth inning and three runs in the fifth inning. García got things started with a one out home run, her third of the series, before Keeler and Marissa Jiménez added RBI singles later in the frame. García contributed a RBI double and Victoria Beltrán a RBI single before a misplayed ground ball to the Newman shortstop off the bat of Keeler allowed two runs to score, ending the game by the Heartland Conference run rule.
