Angelo State swept Texas A&M International University in doubleheader action on Tuesday afternoon at the ASU Softball Complex in San Angelo. ASU won the opener 8-0 five innings before winning the second game 5-2. TAMIU managed four hits in the opener, two of them singles by starting pitcher Stormy Keeler. Keeler (2-7) took the loss after allowing eight earned runs with three strikeouts no walks. Angelo State (14-3) scored all five of its run in the bottom of the third inning in game two. The Dustdevils would score one run in the fourth on a RBI single by Janelle Ruiz and one run in the sixth on a RBI single by Clarissa Salinas. Courtney Smith (0-3) took the loss for the Dustdevils after allowing seven hits and five runs (two earned) in 2.2 innings. Victoria Beltrán allowed no runs on three hits in 3.1 innings of relief work. TAMIU (4-14) returns to action on Mar. 8-9 with a home series against Heartland Conference opponent Newman. |
