June And Gipson Earn Heartland Conference Postseason Honors



Jasmine June earns second-team All-Heartland Conference honors in her first season with the Dustdevils.

Texas A&M International University has landed two student-athletes on the 2007-08 All Heartland Conference Women's Basketball Team. The honors were selected by a vote of the conference's head coaches.

Junior Jasmine June earns second-team honors and senior Nicole Gipson honorable mention recognition. June is a transfer from Texas A&M-Kingsville and Gipson concludes her career as a four-year letterwinner for the Dustdevils.

June led the Dustdevils in scoring and finished second on the squad in rebounding, averaging 15.2 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. She finished in the top-10 of the final Heartland Conference statistical rankings in scoring, rebounding and assists (2.5 per game).

June scored in double-figures in 23 of 26 games played. She scored 20 or more points eight times.

Gipson led the team in rebounding (7.0 per game) while finishing second in scoring (10.4 per game). She also led the team and conference in blocks (2.65 per game).

Gipson concludes her career ranked as TAMIU's career block leader (325). She previously earned honorable mention All-Red River Athletic Conference honors as a sophomore.
