Vincent directed TAMIU to an 11-12 overall record last season in the team's first campaign as a NCAA Division II provisional member. The Dustdevils finished with a respectable 8-6 record against Heartland Conference opponents, including a February win over regular season and conference tournament champion Montana State-Billings.

Two players earned All-Heartland Conference honors last season. Vanessa Villarreal was named to the first-team and Jermina Tomlinson to the second-team. Villarreal also earned conference Newcomer of the Year honors.

Vincent arrived in Laredo after a five-year stint as an assistant coach at Texas A&M-Kingsville. He spent the last two seasons of his tenure in Kingsville as an assistant for the women's team after serving as an assistant for the Javelina men's program for three years.

The women's program made steady improvements with Vincent on staff. The men compiled a 46-39 record with the coach on board. The Javelina men advanced to the NCAA South-Central Region for the first time in eight years during Vincent's second season on the staff.

Two players Vincent recruited to play during his tenure with Kingsville's men's program have gone on to play professional basketball. Will Brown plays professionally in México and Jamie Barnett plays in the American Basketball Association. His recruits also include three All-Americans, two Lone Star Conference (LSC) Players of the Year, a LSC Newcomer of the Year, back-to-back LSC Freshman of the Year honorees as well as several all-conference selections.

Prior to his tenure at Kingsville, Vincent was the top assistant for the Mount San Antonio College (Walnut, Calif.) men's program for two seasons. During his tenure at Mt. SAC the Mounties made the playoffs both seasons and five players earned all-conference honors. Vincent was also the head boy's coach at Ambassador Christian High School in California for two seasons.

Vincent played at Eastern Arizona Junior College before transferring to Cal Poly Pomona. He has earned a bachelor's in management and human resources from Pomona and master's degrees in physical education and recreation and business education from Emporia State University.
