Texas A&M International University junior Andrés Maymi has achieved a break-through performance by finishing as the second place finisher at the UT-Dallas Spring Classic, played on Monday and Tuesday at the Sherrill Park Golf Club in Richardson. He carded a career-best 225 (77-73-75) in the 54-hole tournament, only two strokes behind UT Tyler's Brandon Ellis. Maymi finished one stroke ahead of third place finisher Clay Holcomb from UT Tyler. A total of 13 teams and 66 individuals participated in the tournament. Maymi was a member of the Puerto Rican National Team that participated in the 51st Caribbean Amateur Champions last summer. He finished 20th in the tournament with a 72-hole total of 308. |
