Dr. Debbie Snell

Player Profile

Position:
Athletic Director

Dr. Debbie Snell was introduced as the second Athletics Director in the history of Texas A&M International University Athletics on May 3, 2007. The Arkansas native brings experience as a student-athlete, coach and administrator to the task of guiding the TAMIU Athletics Department through the NCAA Division II provisional membership process.

Snell arrived in Laredo after a ninth-month stint as associate athletics director for compliance and academic services at Campbell University. Campbell is a NCAA Division I member of the Atlantic Sun Conference.

Before taking the position at Campbell, Snell served in several capacities at Palm Beach Atlantic University in Florida over a five-year span. She served as Palm Beach Atlantic's head women's basketball coach for three years before serving as an assistant athletics director and senior women's administrator her last two years at the school.

Like TAMIU, Palm Beach Atlantic is in the process of making the transition to the NCAA Division II ranks. Snell helped guide PBAU through its first two years as a NCAA Division II provisional member from 2004-06.

After playing college basketball at the University of Arkansas, Snell began her career as a coach at several high schools in Arkansas. She worked at Northwest Arkansas Community College before starting her tenure at Palm Beach Atlantic.

Snell holds three degrees from the University of Arkansas. Those degrees are a bachelor's in physical education, a master's in kinesiology and a doctorate in higher education management.

Snell and her husband, John, are parents of two sons, Kyle and Dillon, and a daughter, Calandra.
