Dr. Randel Brown is in his 13th year as an educator at Texas A&M International University. He currently holds the title of associate professor of education and director of special education programs. Dr. Brown has played a key role in the development of TAMIU Athletics since the program's inception in 2002. He began his second stint at faculty athletics representative in January, 2005. In addition to teaching and FAR duties, Dr. Brown is involved in many aspects of campus life. He serves as editor of The Journal of Border Educational Research and faculty sponsor for the Council for Exceptional Children Student Organization. Prior to his arrival at TAMIU, Brown taught for several years in Oklahoma Public Schools. He also spent five years with the Oklahoma State Department of Education as Special Education Compliance Officer and Compliant Resolution as well as teaching at the University of Oklahoma. Brown has earned three college degrees; a bachelor's in special education and a master's in special education from the University of Central Oklahoma as well as a Ph.D. in applied behavioral studies in education and special education from Oklahoma State University. Brown and his wife Lupe were married in June 2003. |
